Charles Weigle wrote a wonderful old hymn called ‘No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus” years ago. From a broken heart came the wonderful words of Jesus as a friend in deed. As I was reading this it made me stop and think of how we as Christians treat each other. Do we treat each other with dignity? Do we really care for each like a friend by Jesus’ example? Is our treatment like a real friend? In the song it speaks of how Jesus is a friend “strong and true.” What does that mean? When we are weak and down, is it that He is strong for us? When everyone else leaves us by ourselves and forgets us, is it that He is our only true friend? For us to be real friends as we should, then why are we so quick to judge each others words and actions without looking deep into the persons soul? Why are we so quick to disagree? People go through so many trial in life and it just may be possible that our friends are going through a tough time and lashing out at anyone anyway they can. Our goal should be quicker to forgive than we are to judge or hold a grudge! As the words of Charles ring so true, he writes that “All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me; all my heart was full of misery and woe; Jesus placed His strong and loving arms around me, and He led me in the way I ought to go.” I could not have said that any better. It is in His strong and loving arms that we should run. Whenever a friend near us is in need or hurting, keep this in mind that we can be Jesus’ strong and loving arms for them. When someone may be in the wrong…rather than judging their actions and condemning them, go to them with understanding and be by their side. It is in our actions of love and kindness that will win them over from a strayed life, not the words of scorn or so called “tough love”. People are in real need of true love from a true friend. I hope anyone that will read this will strive each day to make a loving impact on those around them and let them see a different side of Christianity that most of the world does not see these days. Is it any wonder why the church has no impact on the world today…Jesus showed us how to treat each…so why have we changed this? Stop and think....are we letting people see Jesus in us?
