Welcome Our Newest Member To The Family

Here is the newest member of our family!  Little Puff!

This past weekend, our older gentleman neighbor, gave us his sweet little Puff, because he just did not have the strength to take care of him any more.  Puff was always running away to come down here and play with Ruffles and the kids.

At first, we were not for sure if he would fit in with our family, but he has made himself quite at home here already.  He loves everyone dearly, and is the most snuggly dog anyone could ever find!

Of course, he has already passed the initiation process.  Oh you know which one I am talking about, the humiliation process.  Dressing up in baby doll clothes, and being paraded around so everyone can see.
Needless to say, little momma is all excited because she has someone to take care of and nurture.  One of these days, she will make a great mommy!

I Received 2 Bloggy Awards!

My friend, Michelle12261, at Journey Home has awarded me the following bloggy awards!  I feel so humbled that people are inspired by what I write on this blog!  I never knew wehn God asked me to do this, that people would actually be reading.

My first award that she presented me with was this one:

The second award I received is one of my most favoritest, and yummy awards of all times!

And ya'll it comes with a recipe!  Wooo hooo!  I actually have this recipe and it's about time for me to make my rounds of bread!  They make great Christmas gifts for those of us on a tight budget!!

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

To the balance (a little over one cup) of the batter, add the following ingredients and mix well.
1 cup oil
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

In a separate bowl combine the following dry ingredients and mix well:
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 - (5.1 oz) box instant vanilla pudding
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup nuts

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix and pour into two well greased and sugared bread pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

If you keep a starter for yourself, you will bake every 10 days. The bread is very a good quick bread and makes a great gift.

It is very important to use plastic or wooden utensils and plastic or glass containers when making this. Do not use metal at all!

Ingredients:

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup warm milk (110°F)

Directions:

1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water for about 10 minutes. Stir well.

2. In a 2 quart glass or plastic container, combine 1 cup sifted flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly or the flour will get lumpy when you add the milk.

3. Slowly stir in warm milk and dissolved yeast mixture. Loosely cover the mixture with a lid or plastic wrap. The mixture will get bubbly. Consider this Day 1 of the cycle, or the day you receive the starter.

Amish Friendship Bread Recipe
Day 1: Do nothing (This is the day you receive the batter, but go by the date on the bag).
Day 2: Mush the bag
Day 3: Mush the bag
Day 4: Mush the bag
Day 5: Mush the bag
Day 6: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Mush the bag. Don't worry if the starter smells, it is fermenting.
Day 7: Mush the bag
Day 8: Mush the bag
Day 9: Mush the bag
Day 10: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Stir. Take out 3 cups and place 1 cup each into three separate plastic containers. Give one cup and a copy of this recipe to three (reality) friends.

Now I get to honor some of my friends with both of the above awards.

2 Peas In A Pod

Have you ever seen two boys look so handsome?  As I sit here and write this, the days are ticking until Robert will be 14! 14 PEOPLE!!!!!  I still remember how small he was the day we brought him home.

He is growing up so fast, but still loves to play with his sister.  He loves to maker her laugh!  Every day that I am alive, I can not thank God enough for putting this sweet adorable young man into our lives.  He is one of the best friends I have.  I love talking to him and sharing with him, and most of all laughing and snuggling him. (Yes ladies, almost 14 and STILL loves to snuggle!) (Now, don't be getting jealous now!  )

Robert loves homeschooling more than any kid I know.  He usually tries to do his very best and has recently taken up reading!  Yes, you heard me.  READING!  You know, the boy who I told you about a year ago who hated to read is now reading freely!  In fact, right now, he is reading War of The Worlds. I am amazed at the change in him just in the time we have left the public and private schools and started homeschooling.

The new TOS Issue is out and it is full of information on high school.  I will definitely be saving this issue to give me some helpful pointers as we will be entering our high school years in the new school year approaching.  Right now they have a great sale going on.  For two years you would get this fabulous magazine and all kinds of great gifts to go along with it, and all for $39!  Here is the link!  Hope you all have a great day!
