Photobucket

Welcome to my little corner of the beach in Southern California. I am married to one amazing man who loves me with a heart of Christ and who has blessed me to be a stay-at-home homeschool mom of three wonderful blessings. My heart is for homeschool ministry and helping others through encouragement. I've been homeschooling since the beginning and love it more and more every day.

I began my journey in homeschooling based on Bible scriptures found in Deuteronomy chapter 6:6-12 Homeschooling With Encouragement is dedicated to encourage the homeschool mom. I am the owner of a Yahoo group, monthly newsletter, two homeschool blogs, and the Weblink Education website.

Please take your time and thumb through my past postings as well as the Ministry links sponsored on this blog.

I'm Keeping My Orthopedic In Business!

Photobucket

This little bruise seems innocent enough...  even after three weeks, it's still there but seems to be healing.  All is good considering how an utility trailor caught his leg when while we were moving my new piano.  Well, why has THIS turned into THIS....  I don't know!

jc's castPhotobucketPhotobucket

Yes!  Can you believe that three weeks later a cast goes on my little guys ankle?  It's all from that darn trailor (it's not even ours)!!!  I guess because my baby's quad muscle was so injured a few weeks ago that there wasn't really an visible sign that my sons ankle was also injured.  Now since the weeks have passed and his quad is better, his ankle is worse!  He couldn't even walk yesterday!   So, the doctor put him in a cast for four weeks.

Now, before you think I'm a bad Mama because I didn't notice this...  I beg you to listen.  I've got a Superhero on my hands.  He doesn't complain or like attention when it comes to injuries.  He's a "sport/tough guy" and can handle a big amount of pain.   So, when I would see him limp or sit down  after walking a bit, I figured he just needed to rest his ankle because it was still sore.   I figured time would heal it.  Boy was I WRONG!  He was making things worse.  He needed to be completely off of it during these past few weeks.  Why the doctor didn't catch that three weeks ago, I don't know.  Like I said above, I figure it's because his quad was so badly injured that he didn't even really feel his ankle until the quad healed!  Crazy!!!

Something else that is amazing...  For those who have read my blog for awhile, you may remember me being in an ankle cast last summer.  Well, this "cast" was put on during the same week I injured my ankle last year!!!  Why June??!!!  It's crazy.  My poor little fellow.  I pray he find rest and peace without the beach or swimming pool... please pray for his temperment - he's a busy one.   It's hard to keep him down - even with a cast!  Yikes!

Poor little guy! That's rough for a kid who loves to be active. Maybe some extra "screen time" will cheer him up and keep him still. I'm seeing from the pics that you were thinking the same thing. :-)

Oh, that is to bad. I hope he is o.k. I understand about the not knowing how bad it was. My Paulie is like that. He had an ear infection once, and never showed a single sign until it started piercing his ear drum! Goodness that boy can handle pain. I do hope things heal well. :)

Jun. 19, 2008 - Poor Little Guy!

Oh, I know, It's so hard to know what to do sometimes. You're a great mom! Just last Saturday, I accidently dropped a conch shell on my foot while dusting. One of the pointy parts really nailed me, and I got an immediate big bump - it looked like a large marble just under the surface of my skin. I showed the girls and said I didn't know if I should stay off my foot, put ice on it, or just ignore it. I stayed off it for 5 minutes, which helped, but I had lots to do, so I just ignored it, swelling eventually went down, but it's still a bit tender. (If I only weren't a kllutz). He's looking pretty cool in the pictures though with that cast! Make sure to mark your calender for next June to not do anything that would cause bodily harm. :)

I have one child just like that. He even stuck a pencil in his hand the other day. He got it out washed it good with soap and water. He used peroxide on it too. Then he came to me and comforted me. I was so sick. Normally, I handle situations and then cry later. This one made me so sick. He dealt with it and I never heard another word about it. It is completely healed now. Hugs Christy

Poor buddy! That will be no fun.
Make sure you have a way for him to elevate it while you are driving on your vacation . (like on the snack cooler?)

I pray he heals well and it flies by painlessly!
