Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

A Mom's Proud Moments
Posted in Boy Things
As a mom of young boys, I don't always get the "bursting with pride" moments. We vacillate between those happy moments and the "what were you thinking!" moments, if you know what I mean. Well, I've just got to share my "bursting with pride" moments! It just so happens they are both connected to Habanero, which is probably a good thing. ;')
My sons were at all of the church services this weekend, since my darling husband had a full schedule of working and more working. I was serving on the worship team, so they came with me to my Saturday rehearsal and the evening service. This was my first "moment".
I was picking up Habanero from our children's ministry, and one of the head volunteers came over to me specifically. You know what it looks like. You know this person coming to you has something to say to you about your child, most likely. I braced myself a little on the inside. What I received was a pleasant surprise.
The volunteer said that they had been talking about forgiveness and asking for forgiveness. He said they talked about the way to ask for forgiveness. (This is a topic we've covered...oh...a bazillion times here.) And, he said that my Habanero had a very clear opinion of the teaching. The volunteer said Habanero told the class exactly what his mom has taught him about asking for forgiveness. I guess he shared this:
"First, my mom tells me I need to take ownership of my sin. I have to own what I've done. Then, I need to ask how it made the other person feel. Then, I say I'm sorry. Then, I ask for forgiveness."
Huh. Something is getting in there! I'm sure of it!
My second "moment" was this morning.
A little background you need to know: Habanero has been frustrated with the young children's Bible he's had. It obviously did not have all the same verses as his brother's Bible. That, apparently, is just wrong! (What were we thinking?) Cute stories and pictures weren't cutting it for this first grader anymore. Loaning him my Bible was better, but it wasn't his. So, at a garage sale on Friday, we picked up a Bible in super condition for fifty cents! (Love a bargain!)
This morning, we were working through our Proverbs study to the best of my ability. Someone was just completely enamored by his new Bible, though. He made his own bookmark out of a piece of paper that said, "Proverbs?" Yes, there was a question mark. I'm not entirely sure, but I think he's experimenting with punctuation. ;')
Bell Pepper was reading the verses he'll be adding to his memory repertoire, and he came across the "tree of life" in chapter 3. I asked if he had ever heard of the tree of life before, and got a blank look. I narrowed it down.
Old Testament.
Pentateuch.
Not the story of the Israelites.
Not the law for the Israelites.
*cough*Genesis*cough*
We found it.
The "moment" I had with Habanero was his ability to flip and find the verses quickly in his new, HUGE Bible. This kid is going to be great at Bible study someday. ;')
Even better...Habanero corrected Bell Pepper when he misread something in the verses. He knew it because he was reading along in his own HUGE Bible!
I'm so proud!

Monday, May 5, 2008 - COOL!
Congratulations on the new Bible. We found one for Kiddo the same way, although I personally would have liked for him to have found one that was not pink! Oh well, to each his own. At least he uses it, right? Oh, how I feel a road trip to the bookstore coming on!!! lol
Blessings, my friend~
