Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

Boys. . .to Men
Posted in Boy Things
Yesterday Bell Pepper and I went on a walk with our favorite chihuahua-dog in the world. Our goal on the walk was to identify angiosperms from gymnosperms in the tree world. After we strode down the first long street with one hundred percent accuracy, we took a break from all things botanical for a bit. We just walked.
Several silent minutes and three streets later, I asked my son what he was thinking. A fairly confident, relaxed single word slid from his lips. "Nothing," he said.
For some odd reason this brought back a flood of memories from every Mars/Venus book, marriage workshop, and ministry wives conference. You know what I'm talking about. It's those long minutes we strive to grasp the foreign concept as the speaker talks about a man's ability to think about . . . nothing.
They say it's true, whoever they might be. Men apparently have that "free space" on the bingo board hardwired into their brains. I'll never understand it, but experience has been telling me for years that the they preaching this just might be right on target.
Well, this shattered my reality for just a moment with my son. Suddenly, the answer to the question we women have all been waiting for appears to be--about the age of ten years old. Yep. That's when they start to be able to think of . . . nothing. Let me clarify. This isn't the "doing nothing" we are so familiar with in connection with "having nothing to do" or "I didn't do nothing; it was him!" This is purely brain cell suspended animation, apparently. Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm." Right?
I told my son he was growing up. I told him he was doing a "manly" thing now. I explained that only men, apparently, can think of . . . nothing. I told him it was something women could definitely not do.
It was a bittersweet moment for me as a mom.
"Yeah, I guess I'm growin' up, Mom."
*sigh and a sniff or two*
