Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

The Prayer Walk. . .of Sorts
Posted in Boy Things
It has become my habit after dinner each night that I try to go for a walk. You'll note that I mentioned a bit about my walk with Bell Pepper a couple entries ago. It was a pleasure to go with him. Last night's walk was still a pleasure, yet so different. You see, Habanero was ready to go with me at the right time, so I brought him and the little chihuahua with me. (Can't you just see this "south of the border combination" getting spicy?)
I thought I would teach my handsome young son about the benefits of a prayer walk. I gently introduced the concept of walking along and praising God for all that He has made. Then, I told him about the way God might bring people to mind that might lead me to praise Him or to pray to Him.
Habanero was determined to pray for Daddy. Perfect. After clarifying whether this was an out loud or silent thing, my son went deep into silent prayer for his daddy.
Nanoseconds later, Habanero was speaking lots of words about everything around him, the things that happened in his day, and what was going to happen tomorrow. (Oh my!) I broke from my prayer to try to decipher the waterfall of words taking place next to me, I'm sure, with a blank look on my face.
Habanero stopped. He looked at me and said, without skipping a breath, "I'm talking a lot, huh? I just like talking, Mom. I like talking a lot."
"Yes, I know," I replied.
"I know you said that God could bring people to mind for me to pray for, but He didn't, so I just decided to talk to you while I was waiting," he shared.
"Yes, I know," I replied.
I guess I was out of words. That can happen. Sometimes walking with someone who fills the voids and silences can be interesting, if not a little easier to navigate the silences (or lack thereof). Sometimes, silence is a precious thing. I need to find the balance of that. I need to love my sons and all of the uniqueness God has placed in them. I need to appreciate that my quiet son and my talkative son will be very different with blessings and challenges in both personalities.
Sometimes I just need to take a walk alone. ;')
