Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

Sunday, April 13, 2008 Walking in the Word
Posted in Titus 2 Things
Well, it's almost finished. I've copied the Titus 2 entries to the new location, but have left the copies here because that's where the comments are. I wouldn't want to lose the kind and insightful comments that were left here.
Do you remember when I said something about my newly painted bathroom matching this blog and my nook over at The Homeschool Lounge? Well, Walking in the Word matches my bedroom! *lol* No, I didn't plan that at all! Ask my wonderful friend Pam who watched me mess around with a rose theme first. The magnolia theme was a happy accident. ;')
Anyway, the new blog has been blessed with a few entries, and I'll be writing more. We'll see how long I can keep up my track record of posting regularly. Two places is a lot of posting...and I can't ignore my commenting on all my friends' awesome blogs. ;')
Love you all! Thanks for your encouragement to give this a shot. Thankfully, much of what appears in the the Titus 2 Forum can be shared here. A little cut and paste will help in the beginning, I think. *grin*
Blessings!

Sunday, April 13, 2008 Where in the World is. . .
Posted in Titus 2 Things
No! No! Not Carmen Sandiego!
Where is Waldo?
No!
Clearly, you've been wondering where in the world is JEN! *grin* ;')
Well, I've been praying about this last week of posts. I've been really feeling like I should be doing something that is along this line, but I'm not sure which route to take. So, it's a bit like a fleece, I suppose. Pardon me for not knowing exactly which route to take.
I have been designing a blog that I think will contain most of the Titus 2-like posts. I'll actually move the ones here over there when I finish tweaking. I think it's beginning to look nice. I finally got my GIRLIE blog! (Oddly, this feels a bit like giving birth to my first girl!) *lol*
If you'd like to go scope out the new blog, it's here: Walking in the Word. Be sure to tell me if you have ideas for decorating it. (I'm sure you all are NOT going to say it looks a little like puke, right?) I was so excited to find I could do a girlie-girl thing for this one. I personally think it's elegant, but it sure needs a pretty logo/banner-thing for the top.
Some of you have found the Titus 2 Forum link in the left column here, and I still have a few ladies there who have asked me not to give up on it yet, so the Forum remains. Honestly, I think Dee may be right. It sure is a great way to interact over biblical concepts, precepts, and ideas. It might be a lot more free than what a blog can offer. The Titus 2 Forum is HERE. You can find the cover page for orientation to the Forum HERE.
To make life easier for me, this blog will remain mostly related to homeschooling, boys, personal stuff, and the godly things that associate with that. ;') I hope this makes it a little easier to know what to expect when you come to my little corner of the Blog Universe. (If I have two blogs, does that mean I have a larger corner, or do I have TWO corners? Hmmmmmmm. I'm pretty sure I don't have a corner on the market yet, at least!)

Saturday, April 12, 2008 Titus 2: Your Thoughts
Posted in Titus 2 Things
Well, there has been almost a full week of posts in the Titus 2 category. I thought about continuing, and then I wondered if it should continue. I suppose I have options. I could begin a new blog with this as the main focus. I could keep it all here, and just have it categorized.
I would love to know what you all think. Can you give me your thoughts on whether this has been a blessing to you. Is this something you could imagine to be fruitful? Should this be a blog? Is the board the way to go, but perhaps it just isn't frequented enough yet?
For those wondering where the board is, you can check the link in the left column here. I had the worst possible choice for a url name, but I didn't know how important that would be later. :'P
I don't know, so I'm asking for your thoughts and help in sorting it out. Please let me know what you think. Oh, and don't be shy. Tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly. I know there is a possibility of this not being the direction God wants me to go, or that there needs to be improvement, etc.
Thanks, friends!

Thursday, April 10, 2008 Titus 2: Bible Study (Part 2)
Posted in Titus 2 Things
In keeping with the theme of the week (testing out my giftedness), I'm adding another entry related to yesterday's Titus 2 entry. I hope these are enjoyable or profitable or a blessing to you in some way. Please be sure to let me know what you think. That blesses me so much. :')
(For those who are completely disconnected from these entries for some reason, I ask your forgiveness for this week. These topics will eventually be moved to the right venue, whatever that may be.)
So, we begin to explore Bible study as a discipline.
What is Bible study?
First and foremost, this is a very personal question. We've made a distinction between Bible reading and study, but there is no formal definition for this particular area yet. Can we agree it's an interaction with Scripture on a different level than reading? Can we also agree that this interactive process has as many shades of difference as there are individuals on the planet?
Webster's defines study as
1 : a state of contemplation: REVERIE 2 a : application of mental faculties to the acquisition of knowledge b : such application in a particular field or to a specific subject c : careful or extended consideration d (1) : a careful examination or analysis of a phenomenon, development, or question. . .
The intriguing thing about Webster's entry is that it mentions the word is from the root studere, meaning to devote oneself. That thought in itself gives me pause. What do you think about that? When you open the Bible to study it, perhaps you might consider devoting yourself to it, and pray about what that looks like in your own life.
For some, pulling out reference books and resources is the visual they have for study. For others, it's about a slow, methodical, deep meditation. Some think they can only devote hours. Some feel blessed to get a few less-distracted moments. I don't believe any of these responses is entirely wrong. I only believe we step across a line when we impose God's leadership in our lives on someone else in a strong and unfounded way. (Insert warning about legalism here.)
So, what is Bible study? I believe Bible study is the beautiful, God-led, intimate interaction with Scripture during which we seek to know the truth of God, experience His love, and see His power in that Scripture and, ultimately, in our own lives. It yields a sound understanding of His truth, will, and purpose for our lives. We become familiar with who He is. . .who we are. . .and the relationship between us as God and man.
I'm going to rest this topic here. I hope it's a springboard for your own personal pondering. Feel free to comment and to share what Bible study is to you. We might all be blessed!
Have a wonderful day, friends!
