Thoughts from Stacey

Mar. 9, 2006 - Chicken Livers

Ok, I can hear all the gasps and thoughts of ew disgusting.  Yersterday a dear lady from church took my kids out to dinner so they could try chicken livers.  I know your suprised that anyone actually eats chicken livers and why would I have my children try them.  Well my father loves them and always tells the children that he is going to bring them chicken livers to eat.  This of course sends my kids in a disgusting uproar.  But being the homeschool mother that I am thought it would be a great teaching moment.  I told them we don't know what God has planned for you my dear children, someday he may call you to be a missionary in a far off place.  These great people you have come to share the gospel with may offer you some food you have never seen or eaten.  You will try the chicken livers and learn to swallow and put a smile on your face and say thank you.  They all tried them and ate their meal. My oldest son informed me He really wants to be a metorologist and doesn't think that profession will call him to eat strange things. LOL  Our kind friend who treated us to dinner did get the kids desserts after their meal, so the kids thought it was an ok adventure.

LOL! Stacey you are a nut! I have to know who took your kids out to eat chicken livers?! I have never heard of eating them and I am southern and know what chitlin's are. . . not to mention pig's feet (I remember them in a big jar in my uncle's general store - eewww!) I think you should have totally let Kyle off the hook as his excuse was brilliant - and probably completely accurate! (Although I don't think he can be a weather forecaster on TV because evidently one has to be "perky" and "blonde" to do this. . . )

Missed you last night! My office is a wreck . . . hint hint
Go say hi to JenIg and tell her you are a friend of mine :-)

I grew up eating chicken livers. I would say it had to do with growing up in SW Louisiana, except my husband grew up there too. And he refuses to eat them. Hmmmm, I dunno.
Kudos to your kids for stepping up the the plate (!) and trying something new!
