May 2007

(written in July…dated to fit timeline)

At the beginning of May we went to Scottish Rite for a check up.  It was good.  They could tell for sure now that Bean would NOT be in the C category and they could also tell that she was about 50% along in the fracture stage, so while we are not through yet…not too much farther before that bone can start re-growing.  After talking about the surgery again with the Doctor, he said that when he had presented it to the board about 50% of them had said "wait and see" and so he also was not going to push surgery anymore especially in light of the family history of late maturation.  It was nice to walk away in agreement.  They don’t want to see us until some time in September which also feels SO much less stressful, because it feels like they feel like she is more stable.

May brought a lot of things…for instance this was the most severe wind that we’d seen since we’d been here…it picked that house up and spun it and then ROLLED it…and of course knocked out the power…it was pretty exciting, but it was also the night before our friends were supposed to leave, which was a tad nerve racking. And we aren't even IN Kansas!!

Beanie turned 8 and had a little party at a local beach pool.  They had SO much fun.

Bathing...I mean Buried...Beauties

Somewhere in between we studied Non-Newtonian substances…those that act as both a liquid and a solid.  It was all a bunch of slime…but great fun.  Thanks to The Backyard Scientist.
