The Hidden Kingdom of Kariko

Prolouge

A young man rushed through the halls of a great castle. A scroll was neatly tucked under his arm; very wrinkled and worn. His short blond hair was very tussled and messy, so he ran his hand through it. He was in a hurry. Nearing two huge golden doors, he slowed down and walked right up to them. Placing his hand on one of the brass handles, he pushed against it. The doors swung open softly, so he walked in. They shut behind him quietly.

Across the room sat a man in a throne. He twirled his scepter around, bored, then let it fall with a "tap" to the floor, starting a pattern. Soon, a flurry of "tap tap tap" echoed around the room. The man looked up and glared at the other.

"Kenani, your late.", he seethed, his eyes burning.

"I am sorry, your magesty.", Kenani muttered, dropping to his knees and bowing his head with respect. The king rolled his eyes and leaned back against the throne.

"Stand up.", he commanded. "I know you didn't just come here to waste my time with simple conversation and pleasantries. Now, you have news for me?" Kenani jumped to his feet and nodded.

"Yes, your magesty. I do, but it is not good news." The king sighed.

"When is it ever good news?", he asked disgustedly. When the young man did not answer, the king became impatiently. "Spit it out lad!", he growled. Kenani started to tremble. He brushed his hair away from his eyes, trying to calm down and gain some composure.

"Well...this morning. When the guards went down to check on all the prisoners, the boy. He's gone!" The king roared with anger and jumped up.

"What do you mean he's gone?" He walked over to Kenani and grabbed the collar of his shirt, lifting him up off the floor a couple of inches.

"The door was shut. There-there was no...evidence of...escape or help. He...vanished!" Kenani coughed and breathed in deeply, but the pressure of being in the air cut off his flow of air. The king dropped him. His legs hit the floor and buckled, so he found himself laying of the floor. He took in a deep breath, then sighed.

"I see. Send out the goblin and track him down!" The young man groaned, but didn't answer. Suddenly, Kenani felt a boot contact with his side, and he rolled over with the force. Kenani whimpered a bit.

"Stand up! Your no better then a dog, you worthless mutt. Now get up and leave me, or I'll have your head." Kenani struggled to his feet, then bowed.

"As you wish, your magesty.", he muttered with mock politeness, then turned and walked out of the door. As he turned the corner of the hall, something caught Kenani's eye. The doors to the royal chamber had been left open a crack, and the king was...smiling? He stared for a while more, until the king looked over at him and glared.

Kenani turned and staggered down the hall, his side hurting. His vision soon became blurry, and he felt a bit woozy. He sat down against the wall, trying to think. The boy was gone. The king was...happy about it? Kenani trembled a bit. Whatever was going on...it wasn't right. Not right at all. Something was happening, but Kenani couldn't tell. The pain became so intense that he could no longer take it, and he fainted.

The king started to cackle, his eyes burning red. He looked around a bit, then bent down to grab his scepter. Walking towards the window, he leaned against it and looked out at his kingdom. It was almost noon, and everyone was hustling about. The chatter of news and gossip hung in the air like fog, and many children ran around chasing each other.

The king shook his head. With a quick snap of his fingers, huge lumbering clouds rolled in, and rain stared to fall. Flashes of lightning struck without mercy, and hail started to pelt down on everyone. All the children screamed and ran for their homes. Many adults shook their fists at the sky, then dove inside the buildings. Backing away from the window, the king started to laugh again.

The day now matched his mood. He hated when everyone else was happy. He hated joy. Strolling back to his throne, he sat down and laid his scepter against the side of his throne. His eyes burned with evil. He shut them and grinned.

"It has started."

Hehe. :P

Thanks again!!!! ;D

That's what I've heard! It does look like a good movie. I should have fun. I was watching a few scenes from it at its official website, pretty funny. hehe

Yep, I want to use my writing. I want to write good wholesome fantasies, but I think I'd also like to write Christian books for teens (fiction, or devos...).

*hugs* :D

Did you write what was just posted?

Hellooooo! hehe

Ah ok, I did notice some grammar stuff... but I always notice things like that, especially with my own stuff (though I can miss things with my stuff). :P So what's the story about? The plot?

Thanks!
