Thursday, November 16, 2006 - So who wants to hear more on my family's dental issues?!
I'm sure hands are eagerly going up everywhere...
Obviously this blog has become nothing more than a place for me to talk about going to the dentist. Well thanks to those of you how read here anyways...you really oughta find a hobby.
An interesting twist to this story though...this time it's me getting in the chair.
I don't think I've grossed you out with the details yet, but I've been dealing with an abscessed tooth for about the last 5 weeks. It hasn't been pretty, but I've dealt with stuff like this before and was somehow hoping it would take care of itself like it always has in the past.
Not this time.
I was given some antibiotics a few weeks ago by our sweet neighbor...long time readers will remember her as the dear that removed the popcorn kernel from Nicole's ear earlier this year...but a week and 15 pills later the swelling only got worse.
So Trish...bright (not to mention charming, beautiful, humble) gal that you are, why haven't you been to a dentist about this?!
Excellent question, thanks for asking...
Well. my pat answer is, "Oh, well I don't have insurance and I just can't afford something like that right now."
But...now lean in close cause I don't want just anyone to hear me admit this...
I'm afraid of the dentist!
Not the dentist himself, he is a kind and presumably gentle man. No I mean I'm afraid of what torturous things he will have to do to me on Monday.
So why am I going now?
There's this great resource on the web that tells you all kinds of medical things that horrify a gal into scraping together every cent she can as fast as she can before said gal dies of a brain infection caused by said abscess.
Thanks webMD!
Pray for me gals. It seems the infection has spread into my brain just enough that I have totally lost my marbles...I just invited my in-laws over for an early Thanksgiving dinner on Wednsday. Yikes!
If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of my marbles please let me know.

I'm so sorry for your dental issues, but I can certainly relate to putting it off due to a lack of medical insurance. I can't remember the last time I was in a dentist's chair. I hope you are all better soon.

*hugs* I'll be praying for you in your visit to the dentist.
I have almost no fear of the dentist, but I have a terrible fear of the beauty salon (haircuts). No, I'm really not kidding. If I ever get over the trauma, I may blog it someday. For now, suffice to say, I did not have bad hair days in my younger years. I just had bad hair.
Now go get that abcess fixed! :)
