A Real Challenge
I have recently seen and heard some awfully disparaging comments about motherhood. It's been called boring and mind-numbing and a waste of an otherwise good life. There are those who claim that a woman is wasting her potential for great things by accepting the humdrum, menial, unchallenging life of a mother.
I can't imagine what could be greater or of more importance than bringing up the next generation. Unchallenging? If some of these people want a REAL challenge they should try raising godly seed in the nurture and admonition of the Lord in this corrupt, morally bankrupt world. Now THAT'S a challenge. |

Aug. 11, 2006 - good post
Martrydom because we are giving up of ourselves and our lives (at least as the world sees it) for the sake of others. Monastic because among our many duties there is a large amount of repetition (dishes, laundry, cooking) which should/could be accompanied with prayer. Also, I think because we are very much cut off from the "world". This is certainly true for homeschoolers, especially those of us not given to over taxing ourselves with busy schedules. I am home most days by myself - my phone doesn't ring much and I am quie alone, except for the children who usually occupy themselves with fun/school, etc.
Love your other quotes - I really do need to make you one of my friends, since I visit your site so often.
