Super Summer!

August 30th, 2010

I was so ready to take a break this summer, but my boys weren’t, so we did a lot. I have pictures coming from our last few weeks in Happy Homeschool (our new name) before the summer. We did a really cool lapbook and watched our caterpillars turn into butterflies! They loved it. We had vacation bible camp AND vacation bible school as well as a cool class for Kaz called Naturegarten. We took Art class and visited the Rainforest at our local zoo! More news and pics later.

A New Season

July 8th, 2010

Starting this fall, I will be homeschooling two boys instead of one. My Chay is growing up and it’s time to get him going. Previously, he has been the fly on the wall and has gleaned much from his older brother. But now, we must progress into Pre-K for real.

I’m hoping to somehow integrate the two curriculums to make it seamless for all of us. The MFW 1st grade moves quickly, so I don’t want to loose my little guy in the shuffle.

So…I’m thinking of using workboxes. I stopped by a store the other day and saw a nice organizer I could use. The wheels are beginning to turn in my brain! Kaz will really start reading this year, so what a great way to encourage even more learning. I am truly going to treasure these years with my children!  *tear* I don’t know why I’m so mushy right now. Hormones maybe?

Anyway, it ain’t over til’ it’s over. I feel so priviledged to be with the boys so much. What a way to serve the Lord!

I thank God for leading through every little step of this, and for the support of my husband. To have mutual consent is a beautiful thing! Praise God!

Decided

June 25th, 2010

After much prayer, my husband and I have decided to continue with the My Father’s World curriculum. We were initially considering going to K12, but they are very rigid and dogmatic, not to mention, a non-christian curriculum. So, we have made yet another mutually satisfying step in our son’s educations. I do believe that the Lord is giving us wisdom in this.

I truly thank God for surrounding me with so many good, understanding, christian friends. Iron truy does sharpen iron! I think every homeschooling mom needs others to bounce ideas of off every once and a while. Not to compare, but to encourage. That is one reason why I am happy to have formed a christian mom’s group in homeschoolblogger. Check it out if you’re interested!
