Music History display
Some time ago I had blogged about our project week here at our house. One of the projects my youngest daughter (age 7 turned 8 during this time) chose was a Music lapbook. It started from a free lapbook I had acquired sometime ago from Knowledge Box and then turned into a whole board of information for our history fair.

One of the judges commented that she had a lot of information on her board in comparison to some of the other offerings. I believe this is because we took her lapbook and simply attached it to the display board (these are the pink flaps on the far left bottom and far right.) Another plus to this is we can simply pull it off and reattach it together to form the lapbook again for easier storage.

She did not do all the “planned” booklets but chose the ones she wanted. We also incorporated some of the composer study we were doing with Bright Idea’s press and used it as a timeline at the top. Since her mom and siblings participate in an orchestra we found a seating chart for her to color and learn where everyone “sits”.
When she did the “how to direct” booklet she thought it would be a good idea to practice those skills. She decided to dress up just like for a performance and so we took a picture of her directing. Another thing she decided to add was a letter about her favorite music teacher, Mrs. Rumpf who teaches her violin.

At the history fair she had four different pieces of music playing. She chose Chants, Beethoven Fur Elise, part of Hayden’s Four Seasons and Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. She was able to identify these as we had studied them in our Composers study from Bright Idea press. Just a note, it’s not out yet, we got in on a testing of the product, so look for it soon!
So there is a look at the completion of one of our “projects” from project weeks. I’ll be posting more as I get to them.

Your daughter did a fantastic job on her display. It sure seems that she enjoyed her study and learned a whole lot. She should be very proud of herself.

If you took a few of these pics and added your blogging about using "A Young Scholar's Guide to Composers" you would be able to enter it into the Bright Ideas Press contest for 60.00 dollars worth of BIP products! I think you would have a winner!
Blessings,
Maggie
