Noticed this flower on our walk at the creek last week.

Since this week's topic for The Homeschool Minute was the Charlotte Mason Method, I thought I'd pass along a neat entry I read this morning.

In her Color Coded Nature Walks entry, Scribbit shares a great idea for coloring the inside compartments of an egg carton and then having the kids find items that match each color as you go on a nature walk. She also offers some variations on the idea like writing letters in each compartment and finding items that start with that letter, or just using the compartments for items that are native to your area.

Sounds like a GREAT idea to me!

Love this idea. Thanks for sharing. I wish I was there to survey the land God has given you guys and to pet all the animals. How is the goat doing?

Baab is a sheep (the black one), not a goat, but he's doing well - enjoying lots of green grass. We let him free range in the yard when we're outside and he'll literally just wander up on the patio to say Hello while we're out there - right amongst dogs, cats, & the chickens. Too funny.

Cute idea.
Marissa loves for *her daddy* to catch crawdads to show her. She'll catch salamanders in a heartbeat (can you say ewwwww?), but not the crawdads! I've never eaten crawdads, but you've sure made my mouth water for some crab legs. August. Maybe I can wait!

I'd rather watch THEM catch them than to catch them myself. Of course, strangely enough - I really don't like to handle animals, bugs, etc.. other than the basic dog, cats, or livestock. I'll hang onto a mangy dog or rowdy horse, but when it comes to slimy, pinchy things I'm just not as brave!
