Jul. 29, 2007 - Bible MIght be Useless

Shocked are you? Don't worry, this post is not to defraud the Bible and say it's just a book. Keep reading.

As we all know, the Bible is the remarkable, divinely inspired word of God.  But, it may be has useless to you have a manual for a 1938 Ford.  Why? Well what if one reads the Bible and learns that shooting is wrong, then after their reading goes and watched TV. The show they happen to pick is about a killer who kills because someone kills his wife. This is portrayed has and good. He watches the whole thing. Let me ask you, did God's words get to his heart?  Is it enough to know what sin is why it's wrong and memorize ten verses pertaining to that?  No. We must follow in our lives what we read in the Word. We need to uphold the standard of holiness. Did you know that most unbelievers know what our Bibles say, but they don't put stock in it because people don 't  practice what they preach. Yes we all struggle, but don't shove the things you stuggle with down other peoples throats just because it makes you feel better.  And if you see someone struggling with something God has so mercifully pulled you out of, go to them in love and explain that you were there to, and God pulled you out.  Ok back to my main point.  If you don't put your heart into it, the Bible is just a book to you. It can never ever teach you anything. And how you know if your taking God's words to heart, is that the Spirit has room to move in your life because you let Him.  Just a thought.

Hey Alycia!
Thanks for the comment!

Interesting post! I think also, it's that so many people have hardened their hearts, or they don't know about the Bible, before they apply it to themselves. I have come accross people though, that label themselves as "Christian" just to get a good name among some people. There are wayyy too many hypocrites today, and it's pretty sad. People seem to try to take advantage of God, or the term "Christian". =(

God bless,

They might as well not at all have a Bible if they are not going to apply it to themselves. "To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
I don't have any temptation to watch a murder movie, or whatever you call it, because we believe a t.v. is wrong to have. The Bible warns against setting anything evil before our eyes- are we anyway? I have many convictions about watching t.v. as I am sure many of you are not...But let me tell you, we used to be "ordinary" , just like you, but then mom and dad studied the Bible, so we're "not normal" anymore.
I am glad we do not watch t.v. and obey the Bible! I love being "not normal"!

Yes, that is so true. Some people will have their regular Bible reading and maybe some prayer, go to church and everything that a "good Christian" should do. But, they don't live the Christian life. My goal is to show people that I'm not an ordinary Christian. Great blog!
