My baby is awesome!!!!
Posted in School Dayz
Sara is doing scripture copywork. Her scripture is John 1:1-4. I went through it with her last Wednesday, as she was learning to read it. We hadn't touched it since then. Well, today, she read it again all by herself!!!!! Even the word "beginning" and "made (which she had trouble with)".
I am a proud Mama!

She did a great job on it. I sometimes wish my boys grasped the concept of neat copy work. :'P

YAY!! That is super. You are a super-star indeed!!!
Love the pretty red nails :)
to answer your questions.....I get my ideas from a variety of places. Some I make up after finding info that I want the kids to know. ( I locate books with info and pull stuff from there for them to learn ) I also look online for info on a subject, sometimes I can find an idea there as well, or I find something and tweek it for what we are doing.
Yes, the kids do have math and language, but they dont do that daily right now. We are nearing the end of the year this month, hopefully, so we only do those a few times a week. But I also try and steer away from textbooks as much as possible -- using a math book only as a guide, but not making them do every single page or concept. I write problems on another sheet in fun colors and give that to them. We both like that better...but again we utilize the text at times. We also do a lot of reading aloud. I have several books we read daily in our 'Round Table' reading and tea times. We drawm journal, or notebook about those stories -- using them as history, art,, language/reading and any other thing I can pull from it. Sometimes we just spend the day on the sofa just reading and discussing. We do a lot of narration as well. It's a lot less stressful for mom and the kids too, a lot more fun and our days are more enjoyable then when I was banging those worksheets and textbooks down their throat.....ya know?
Anyway, hope that helps.

Oh my gosh! That looks like our school table! Red paint and all. Okay, she is like so cuuute and working so hard. My seven year old could'nt care less what her letters look like and I'm tired of doing everything I can to motivate her whereas my nine year old is all about perfection which can also drive me batty! Good Job! Blessings! Julie
