Where Did I Go and What Was Next After the Last Post?

Rainbow at the lake

That was a much longer hiatus than it should have been. I have just been busier than I had anticipated and there are sadly just 24 hours in a day and I do have to sleep. 🙂 Among the things on my plate are my husband and sons, church, home education, homeschool co-op teaching, secretary to a local club, helping with my elderly father and so many other things even in those items. Things are good though! God is great! I’m not real sure what I would do with myself if I wasn’t so busy.

So I left with the thought of what else is going on with my oldest and with our homeschool co-op. My oldest decided to transfer after a year of community college to a Bible college and major in business. I think he would have had a much better experience with the community college if his classes hadn’t been all online. It is something of a blessing in disguise though. He lives on campus at his college (even though it’s about an hour away) and has been doing so well both academically and otherwise. In all honesty, though, math is still a struggle for him, but he has an interest in trying to get better at it. He told me not long ago that he is still so happy with making that decision to transfer. That is the thing right there.

Our homeschool co-op is going well! Last semester I taught a Tennessee history (up to 1865) class for 6-8 grades. It was a lot of fun but I must say it was a learning experience for me as well as the students. The only things I had ever taught were Sunday school and homeschooling my own kids. So this is a bit different from each but I have signed up to teach another section of the class (1865-modern times). I really have enjoyed it and I have seen some things I definitely want to improve on as well. I also helped in another class last semester and that went really well so the teacher of that class and I are teaming up to co-teach a class this semester on graduating and the next steps for young adults. This would include such things as college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, bank accounts, basic car maintenance, healthcare and health insurance, job interviews and so much more are on our list right now. We still working on putting it all together but that is some of the things on our list right now. My middle son decided not to do co-op classes since he is working and has other things going on. The twins are taking classes though. Last semester they took my class as well others including health and fitness, and a class on missions. This semester some o the ones they are signed up for are the missions class again, health and fitness, and some art classes.

This week we have been slowly starting back to the school routine. Trying to find our groove again after Christmas break. It is going ok but I’m needing to tweak some stuff and add more in as well. So that is what is going on in our neck of the woods. Thanks for reading!

  1. I’m so glad that finding your groove included posting here! God bless you and your students in the coming semester. Your “next steps” class sounds helpful!
