I’ve been checking out health benefits of sourdough which is fermented wheat. I eat a lot of sourdough bread, bagels, english muffins, and anything else my mother bakes. Some of the reasons my mother has sourdough is because a yeast replacement and it is easy to make. All you have to do is add flour and water in specific measurements, which will vary depending on how much you want to have. There are good benefits to eating sourdough bread in comparison to normal yeasted bread like:
- it’s more nutritious – There is 62% less phytic acid than the conventional bread. Phytic acid is more difficult to absorb. As a result sourdough bread has a higher level of available minerals.
- it’s good for your gut – The fiber and plant compounds called polyphenols, become more bio available. These polyphenols act as an important fuel source making bread a gut-friendly choice
- it helps blood sugar management – Blood sugar levels may be less likely to spike because the prebiotics of fermented wheat keep the gut bacteria happy.
And that’s the end of other post.
