A large stork with a shoe shaped beak

The Shoe Billed Stork

Posted on March 13, 2023March 16, 2023

This is a creature called the Shoe Billed Stork also known as the Whale Billed Stork. This massive bird can get to heights of 110 to 140cm and weigh about 12 to 15kg and a wing span of around 230 to 260cm. The main defining feature on them isn’tĀ  their rather non colourful feathers, not their very long legs, but theirĀ  rather unusual and yet very useful beak. A Shoe Billed Stork will use their hooked shaped beak for defense and to tear through meat because the Shoe Billed Stork community is made of carnivores. A large stork with a shoe shaped beak

On the endangered scale the Shoe Billed Stork is vulnerable which means we won’t have to worry about them any time soon. The Shoe Billed Stork is mostly found in Brazil but there is a few in captivity in other country’s.
