Origins…otherwise known as genealogy, I suppose, right?
I am kinda geeky about studying ancestry, genealogy, origins…whatever term you want to give it. I like to learn about my family origins and history, and even the families of the (ex) in-laws. My reasoning there is I like to do the research for the sake of my children, so they know the origins of both sides of their parentage.
My main resource is Ancestry.com, but I don’t have a subscription/membership, only the free portion.
Thanks to the research one of my dad’s sisters did, we’re able to trace back to England. I know we trace back to England on my mom’s side, as well. More recently we can trace back to Nova Scotia on Mom’s side. I know we have Irish and Scottish ancestry, as well.
My oldest two children’s paternal grandmother’s ancestry is Danish. My youngest two children’s paternal grandfather’s ancestry was German.
Do you like researching your family origins as well? What resources do you use?
