Xerox was a common word in my childhood world. Remember, I was a teachers’ kid. My parents were always Xeroxing something for class.
The definition for Xerographic: a process for copying graphic matter by the action of light on an electrically charged photoconductive insulating surface in which the latent image is developed with a resinous powder (such as toner). Of course, Xerox is the trademark for a line of Xerographic copiers.
In our school in North Carolina, we wrote and printed a school newspaper, making copies on the Xerox. It was called “The School Spirit.” You see, the building in which we had our school was a former funeral home. Frankly, the church we attended had also been a funeral home. (I find it somewhat amusing, since the church we currently are attending also is a former funeral home!)
Did you ever use or see a Xerox copier?
