Woo Hoo, it’s Friday! 📖🌻☕
We begin the book of Acts today. The Comforter is coming! Shipwrecks, snakes, martyrdom, imprisonment…this book shows us what it looks like to courageously, faithfully persevere and prevail in the power of the Holy Spirit. We follow in reviewing Philippians 2:3-7 by memory. We’ll add verse 8 on Monday.
Streams in the Desert speaks of “Isolation” today…what happens to our faith and service when we are forced into confinement? What a wonderful example we find in Bunyan, Madame Guyon, and Paul. Interestingly, this very podcast is the result of that in my life. I wanted an opportunity to make a difference in a world that was quarantined, where churches had closed their doors and public speaking opportunities were canceled.
Tozer writes of our “Lord of Righteousness”–Jehovah Tsidkenu. Our hymn writer from yesterday (Robert Murray McCheyne) wrote a hymn by that title. I’ll link to it in the comments on this post in our Facebook group. And today Spurgeon writes about “Choice Men” in Faith’s Checkbook.
Our prayer journal verse on faithfulness is 1 Peter 4:19. God created us knowing our entire timeline. We finish today by reading “The Precious Blood” from The Valley of Vision…”sin is my malady, my monster, my foe, my viper…yet Thy compassions yearn over me, Thy heart hastens to my rescue.”
