Good morning! So, how is December treating you so far? Let’s get suited up for the day! ⚔️
This morning we are looking at 2 Corinthians 5–there are so many things in life that make us groan for immortality, right? But will our sins be on display at the judgment seat? Will we be made to grieve over them again, feel shame for them again on that occasion? No. To say so ignores what God says about our sin. We also talk about what it means to be a “new creature” in light of today’s reading. Miraculous transformation!
We continue memorizing Psalm 103:1-10 and our scripture writing passage from our new resource from Sweet Blessings on the Birth of Christ is Isaiah 9:6,7. “Unto us a child is born”…for us. “Unto us a Son is given”…for us. He is that “free gift” from Romans 5. The first Gift of Christmas.
Streams in the Desert speaks of “Reaching Perfection” today. “Human character must always have a ‘plus’ added to it.” Some day God will reveal all those things that were gifts from Him to make us “polished stones”. Tozer tells us about “Resources That Endure”. Invest in those things not corrupted by moth and rust.
Faith’s Checkbook discusses “Our Holiest Example”–God must fill the horizon of our vision. This is the way to be safe and feel certainty.
Our prayer scripture from Advent: Give Me Jesus from Mercy Is new site is 2 Corinthians 12:9. God’s strength is made perfect…as our weakness grows, the provision of His strength is enough and more to compensate for it. God, please give me strength in Christ this Christmas season. Make my trials in struggles something I can offer in worship to You. We finish with the hymn text “I’ll Sing of the Wonderful Promise” by Albert B. Simpson.
