Here we are on Tuesday, December 7, in the Word together. Let’s jump right in! 📖🌻☕
2 Corinthians 8 is where we are reading this morning. Abundance of joy, deep poverty, and riches of liberality–that’s how God works! We continue with memorizing Psalm 103:1-11, and our scripture writing passage on the topic of The Birth of Christ is Jeremiah 33:14-16. “The Lord, our righteousness” is our Messiah.
Streams in the Desert has us reading “Open the Trenches”–if you’ve seen “Facing the Giants”, you might think along the lines of “preparing for rain”. Looking with expectant eyes for God’s blessing is an aspect of obedience. Then Tozer speaks of “Heart Matters”, providing a very helpful definition of what the Bible means when it speaks of the “mind” and “heart”.
Today, Faith’s Checkbook has as its topic, “The Gift of Strength: Peace to Bless” and our Advent: Give Me Jesus prayer scripture from His Mercy Is New is Philippians 4:19 (coincidentally, this verse was written on two very generous gifts that were sent to me yesterday–His supply is never-ending, praise God!).
We conclude today with “Self-Deprecation” from The Valley of Vision. Remember to bring balance to this conversation….while these things may be true of the state of our souls, we may also remind ourselves that we are “loved with an everlasting love” and “accepted in the beloved” and that “He remembers that we are dust”. “Let me not forget my heavenly title”. Thanks for joining me today!
