Good morning on this chilly, snowy December morning! 📖☃️☕
This morning we read 2 Corinthians 11. Paul cautioned the church at Corinth against those who had a deceitful message…another gospel. We should be wary as well. Make sure what you are hearing from the pulpit aligns with what God’s word plainly says. The Berean church (Acts 17:11) was commended for searching the scriptures. If a preacher or speaker is offended because you ask about the agreement of their message with what the Bible is clearly stating, beware. Paul also catalogs the things in his life experience and “pedigree” that lend to the credibility of his authority and message.
This morning we finish our memory work with Psalm 103:1-11…we’ll add verse 12 on Monday. Our scripture writing portion on the Birth of Christ is continuing in Psalm 72…this time verses 15-20. “His name shall endure forever”…(Rev. 11:15).
In Streams in the Desert, “Learning from Suffering” is our topic. God never wastes time, and is always purposeful, so we know He wants to accomplish something in our lives or the lives of others (or both) through the hard things that come into our lives. Skill in binding up the wounds of others always comes at a cost.
Our portion from Morning & Evening with Tozer concerns “Being and Doing”. Not what we do or have…but what we are…that is of the greatest importance. In Faith’s Checkbook, “God is Our Ally” is the subject. Romans 8:31–“if God be for us, who can be against us?”
Our scripture prayer passage is John 15:15–“I called you friends”. Jesus, what a friend for sinners, Jesus, lover of my soul. We close out our week with “Jesus Is All the World to Me”.
