Happy Wednesday! Celebrating my 60th (!) birthday by beginning it in worship. No better way, and I’m glad you’ll be joining me! 📖🌻☕
Ephesians 6 is what we are reading today….although it should have been Ephesians 5. lol We’ll pick up on that chapter before we move on to Philippians on Friday. 😉 We speak on the topic of the armor of God, examining each piece of that this morning. “Soldiers of Christ arise, and put your armor on!” Speaking of armor, we arm ourselves by memorizing scripture (Psalm 103:1-14 this week) and also writing/meditating on it (Phil. 2:9-11–which we memorized together some months back) for today.
Streams in the Desert tells us about “Appropriating Faith”–we must make God’s word our own personal possession. I love this: “Taking a pencil and underscoring all the me’s and my’s and mine’s in the Bible.” I also loved this: “When faith goes to market, it always takes a basket.” Tozer writes about “Doting on the Past”–the Christian’s great future is before him. “So many Christians seem to already have their future behind them”. Are we facing in the right direction?
Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook reminds us that “He Will Carry Us Home”…a very timely excerpt for me personally on this 60th birthday. The Lord gives His servants “a long and calm evening”.
We finish today considering 1 John 4:7-21 regarding God’s love for us and our love for one another for our prayer time. Today we have a portion from The Valley of Vision entitled, “Contrition”…His blood is my peace. “Grant that I may feel more the strength of thy grace.” Amen.
