It’s New Year’s Eve Eve! Time to establish a solid on-ramp for 2022, and that begins with a life habit of holding tight to God’s Word each day! Let’s do that together! 📖🌻☕
Ephesians chapter 5 is where we are reading this morning. Walk (an ongoing action like “keep on walking”) in love (God’s kind of unconditional, luxurious, self-sacrificing kind). Be a light in this dark world. Let the Spirit control you, not any outside influence. We finish by talking a little about submission in earthly relationships. We work together on memorizing Psalm 103:1-14 and then writing (and meditating upon) James 1:16-18. Jesus, the ultimate “good and perfect gift”.
Streams in the Desert tells us of “Believing Prayer”, continuing the theme of faith from this great resource. “Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”. Learn to pray with the faith of God (Mark 11:22).
Tozer speaks about “The Danger of Eloquence”…it can be a preacher’s greatest obstacle. I’ve found that true eloquence is word choice that distills even the biggest of ideas down into digestible portions so anyone can understand. Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook has us thinking about being “Loved to Perfection”. “Once He has begun to love, it is in His nature to continue to do so”…reminds me of “O Love, That Will Not Let Me Go”. So grateful.
John 11:25 is our prayer scripture for this morning. Because Christ was resurrected, conquered sin and death and the grave, so we can have that same hope. “Because He Lives” is the set of lyrics we’ll look at in connection to this idea, and I share a precious story in connection with this text.
