Good morning, friends! Beautiful sunrise this morning here at Windy Poplars…how’s the weather where you are? Let’s spend some time in the Quiet Time Corner together. 📖🌻☕
We’re in Week 37 of our reading schedule, so that means we’re reading Colossians 3 this morning. We return to the “Put Off/Put On” theme again with Paul’s letter to this church. We should be asking the Holy Spirit to work out His fruit in us every day. “Let (permit) the word of Christ dwell (literally ‘be at home in you’) in you richly (permeating, saturating our whole being”!
We add verse 16 to our scripture memory passage this week–Psalm 103:1-16. Today we are writing Ezekiel 17:23,24 speaking of the flourishing of the kingdom of God.
Streams in the Desert speaks of “Shut Doors” regarding the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Paul wrote that the Holy Spirit prevented them, stopped them. Only God knows what “the fulness of time” may be in all situations, and when is the right time for us to go, to speak, to minister. Tozer writes about “Sin’s Cure” and Spurgeon’s topic is “Divine Recompense” for Faith’s Checkbook today…”my cistern seems to fill as it flows”.
Our prayer scripture is Psalm 34:1–look with me as we also consider the context and arm ourselves against fear, understanding that the bigness of God lends important perspective to the smallness of our problems/fears.
Our prayer from The Valley of Vision is “Purification”–“deliver me from…the sugar of sin”. What an interesting and powerful way to describe sin’s effects and appeal. “If my life is to be a crucible…do thou sit at the mouth”…”give me summer weather as a Christian”.
