Good morning! Time to start a new week together in the best way possible…meeting around God’s word. 📖🌻☕
We are in Week 38 of our “Through the New Testament in a Year” schedule, reading in 1 Thessalonians 4, which has a focus the resurrection and the second coming of Christ. FYI “concupiscence”=”strong, illicit desire”. We add verse 17 to our memory passage, Psalm 103:1-17. And we write John 15:4,5 today from our list at The Ruffled Mango. We discuss what it means to be a “branch”…it may not be what you think!
Today in Streams in the Desert we look at “The Living God” and Tozer speaks to us regarding whether we “Rejoice or Grumble”: “We do live in a sinful and imperfect world, and as believers in Christ we acknowledge that perfection is a relative thing now-and God has not really completed a thing with us, as yet!” Spurgeon writes about “A Man Without Fear”: “If I go upon the LORD’s errand with a simple reliance upon His power and a single eye to His glory, it is certain that He will be with me. His sending me binds Him to back me up. Is not this enough? What more can I want?”
We close with Psalm 62:1,2 as our prayer scripture…He’s our rock and defense. We have hymn texts MWF this week, and today’s is “The Solid Rock”…”all other ground is sinking sand”.
Thanks for coming to meet with me this morning!
