Good morning! Let’s get our Thursday launched! 📖🌻☕
1 Timothy 4 is where we are in our schedule for reading through the New Testament in a year. Be grounded in the truth, and give yourself wholly to it. Our scripture writing passage today is Colossians 3:2-5, speaking of what we are to value–“set your affections on things above”–that’s how we flourish. We are also working on adding verse 18 to our scripture memory passage, Psalm 103:1-18.
For our reading in Streams in the Desert today we have the topic of being “Steady in Our Walk”–“but the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Jesus Christ, after that ye have suffered awhile, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” Tozer writes about “Taking Time To Rest”–“One often-unsuspected cause of staleness is fatigue. Shakespeare said something to the effect that no man could be a philosopher when he had a toothache, and while it is possible to be a weary saint, it is scarcely possible to be weary and feel saintly”.
Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook speaks of “Precious Repentance”–“A sense of blood-bought pardon and of undeserved mercy is the best means of dissolving a heart of stone.” We close with Psalm 119:133–may our steps be ordered by God’s Word– as our prayer scripture and the hymn text on this specific scripture reference, “Lord, I Want to Live for Thee”.
