Hey, Happy Monday! Let’s get this week started! 📖🌻☕
We are reading in James 4 this morning, and we have lots to discuss! Our scripture writing passage leads us to meeting Deborah in Judges 4:4-6, and we add a verse to our memorization project for the Beatitudes–Matthew 5:3-4 this week.
Streams in the Desert reminds us about “Our Dependency Upon Christ”–“It is God’s school of faith, and it is far better for us to learn to trust God than to enjoy life.” A life of trusting obedience is full of joy!
Tozer declares that “Living Christ’s Ethics Requires His Power”–“He called His disciples to Him and taught them, and everywhere throughout His teachings there is the overt or implied idea that His followers will constitute an unpopular minority group in an actively hostile world.”
Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook discusses what it looks like to be “From Fetters Free”–“Satan cannot hold you, sin cannot enchain you, even despair cannot bind you, if you will now believe in the Lord Jesus, and in the freeness of His grace, and the fullness of His power to save.” Amen!
We finish today with Psalm 146:7 as our prayer scripture, and reading a portion from The Valley of Vision entitled, “Weaknesses” which is so very powerful–“Deliver me from carking care, and make me a happy, holy person; Help me to walk the separated life with firm and brave step, and to wrestle successfully against weakness; Teach me to laud, adore, and magnify thee, with the music of heaven, And to make me a perfume of praiseful gratitude to thee.”
Thanks for joining me!
