This morning we are reading in 1 John 2, continuing this letter to believers, showing us what walking in the Spirit should look like. We are writing about 3 women today from our Her Story/His Glory list at the Ruffled Mango. And we continue practicing Matthew 5:3-6 as we learn the Beatitudes together.
Streams in the Desert we learn about “God’s Timing”–“Don’t steal tomorrow out of God’s hands. Give God time to speak to you and reveal His will. He is never too late; learn to wait.” In Morning & Evening with Tozer, we consider “Daily Following”–“Follow me is an invitation, and a challenge, and a promise.”
Spurgeon, in today’s excerpt from Faith’s Checkbook, tells us about “Grace for the Humble”–“Let us go down that we may rise. Let us be poor in spirit that God may make us rich”. This echoes the opening prayer in the Valley of Vision, “Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision.”
