Happy Wednesday (aka Up-n-Over Day)! 📖🌻☕
This morning we are reading Revelation 4. I read something recently–“God did not give us the book of Revelation so we’d build bomb shelters in the back yard. He gave us this book so we’d build bigger dinner tables and invite our friends over and tell them about Jesus.” I like that. Goes along very well with how we are praying to have “fervent love” toward others this week!
Our scripture writing passage is Matthew 4:9-11. While you can choose to write all 3 verses, or just what is significant to you, I’d encourage you to read the whole chapter as far as learning from the Lord Jesus what spiritual warfare is supposed to look like. And we are practicing our memory passage, Matthew 5:3-8 this week.
Streams in the Desert encourages us this morning to “Watch For God”–“Alas, a great many people play at praying. They do not expect God to give them an answer, and thus they are mere triflers. Our Heavenly Father would have us do real business with Him in our praying.” —C. H. Spurgeon
Tozer writes of the “Godly Products of Suffering” (we are doing the evening devotional today for time’s sake)–“Whether we are happy or unhappy at any given time is not important. That we be in the will of God is all that matters.” And Spurgeon speaks of our blessed future hope, when there will be “One King, One Lord”–“Jehovah shall be known among all people, and His gracious sway shall be acknowledged by every tribe of man.”
We close with considering 1 Peter 4:8 regarding our church family, and by reading a portion entitled, “Family” from The Valley of Vision.
Great to have you here with me today!
