And a blessed Thursday to one and all! How are you doing with your “fervent charity” this week? 📖🌻☕
This morning we are reading Revelation 6 concerning judgement and some events of the tribulation–“For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” We write Luke 10:18-20, and learn of some of the enablements the disciples will have when they are sent out to proclaim the gospel. We continue memorizing Matthew 5:3-8.
Streams in the Desert has us contemplating “Inward Stillness”–There is a perfect passivity which is not indolence (laziness). It is a living stillness born of trust. Quiet tension is not trust. It is simply compressed anxiety.”
Tozer discusses “Moral Determination”–“We must surrender-and in that terrible, wonderful moment we may feel that our will has been forever broken, but such is not the case. In His conquest of the soul, God purges the will and brings it into union with His own, but He never breaks it!”
Spurgeon this morning considers what it looks like to be “Without Fear of Man”–“…so every one who is a man of God has omnipotence as his guardian, and God will sooner empty Heaven of angels than leave a saint without defense. Be braver than lions for the right, for God is with you.”
We finish today looking at 1 Peter 4 in its context, which is important if we want to understand the full meaning of the verse. And our hymn text today is “Others”, which fits perfectly with our discussion of demonstrating fervent charity toward those in our widening circles.
Thanks for listening!
