Grateful that you have come to spend a little time with me on this Friday morning! 📖🌻☕
We read Revelation 7 today–“Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever…and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” Three more weeks on this schedule, and then we’ll begin our Psalms and Proverbs readings. We are writing John 1:3-5 today, reminding us of the depth of the words “if God be for us, who can be against us?” We have the Almighty Ruler of Heaven and Earth, the Creator of all things, doing battle with and for us! And this is our last day practicing Matthew 5:3-8 as we memorize the Beatitudes.
Streams in the Desert reminds us today to be “Thankful for the Thorns”–“When we reach this place, we will stop asking for sympathy because of our hard situation or bad treatment, for we will recognize these things as the very conditions of our blessing, and we will turn from them to God and find in them a claim upon Him.” I share a hymn text, “Friendly Thorns”, by Chris Anderson.
Tozer invites us to discern regarding “Praying That Is Praying”–“Juliana of Norwich at the beginning of her wonderful Christian life addressed a prayer to her Savior and then added the wise words, “And this I ask without any condition.” It was that last sentence that gave power to the rest of her prayer and brought the answer in mighty poured-out floods as the years went by.”
Spurgeon reminds us that we are “Preserved to Work’s End”–“…remember that you are immortal till your work is done. If the Lord has more witness for you to bear, you will live to bear it. Who is he that can break the vessel which the Lord intends again to use?”
This is our last day using 1 Peter 4:8 from our prayer resource from The Proverbial Homemaker, guiding our thoughts regarding how we show fervent love to others. Our reading from The Valley of Vision, “Caring Love”, reminds us of God’s love toward us and how we ought to show/demonstrate that love to those around us.
See you, Lord willing, on Monday!
