Okay, welcome back for our Quiet Time Corner on this Wednesday, April 13th! 📖🌻☕
Our scripture reading today is Revelation 10, and our Spiritual Warfare scripture writing passage is John 16:32-33–we are fighting from a place of victory already claimed…”I have overcome the world…it is finished!” We continue today memorizing Matthew 5:3-9.
Streams in the Desert today is on the theme of “Waiting and Working”–we learn a little about the experience of Frances Ridley Havergal, and then read a poem on this topic.
We are but under-workmen;
They never choose
If this tool or if that one
Their hands shall use.
Tozer directs our thoughts toward “Determining to Follow the Lord”–“One ship drives east and another drives west with the selfsame winds that blow; tis the set of the sails and not the gales which tells us the way to go”.
Spurgeon sets our sights forward to imagine “This Body Fashioned Anew”–“No more aching brows, no more swollen limbs, no more dim eyes, no more fainting hearts. The old man shall be no more a bundle of infirmities, nor the sick man a mass of agony. “Like unto his glorious body.” What an expression! Even our flesh shall rest in hope of such a resurrection!”
We look at “We Shall Rise” by John Edmond Thomas on this same theme–
We shall rise, Hallelujah! we shall rise! Amen!
We shall rise! Hallelujah! In the resurrection morning,
When death’s prison bars are broken,
We shall rise, Hallelujah! We shall rise.
