Happy Good Friday…why is it “good” when Jesus died on the cross on this day? Because of three words: “It is finished.” This is the good news for all of mankind. He died for us as our perfect sacrifice…the kind of sacrifice we never could have offered, and one that is entirely sufficient, not requiring anything else to be added to it…ever. Finished!
We read Revelation 12 today, considering the overthrow of the “accuser of the brethren”. We write Romans 8:37-39 for our passage on Spiritual Warfare, being reminded that we are “more than conquerors through Him” and that nothing can separate us from the love of God. We practice our memory passage, Matthew 5:3-9 for the final time this week.
In Streams in the Desert, we “Rest on the Word of God”, being encouraged by George Mueller–“Are you able to say, from the acquaintance you have made with God, that He is a lovely Being? If not, let me affectionately entreat you to ask God to bring you to this, that you may admire His gentleness and kindness, that you may be able to say how good He is, and what a delight it is to the heart of God to do good to His children.”
Tozer reminds us that “We Are Not All Alike”–“It is actually a tragic thing for believers to try to be exactly like each other in their Christian faith and life.” And Spurgeon discusses how the “Desires of the Righteous are Granted”–“Does the Lord deny us our requests for a time? Let the promise for today encourage us to ask again. Has He denied us altogether? We will thank Him still, for it always was our desire that He should deny us if He judged a denial to be best.”
We close with our prayer scripture, and a reading of “It’s Friday, But Sunday’s Comin’!” by S. M. Lockridge.
A wonderFULL and blessed Easter weekend to you all!
