Thanks for joining me on this Tuesday morning. 📖🌻☕
Our chapter to read today is Revelation 19–“Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God!” Our scripture writing passage is James 4:7-8, which includes some “marching orders” for our spiritual warfare–“Submit, Resist, Draw near”. We practice Matthew 5:3-11 today as well.
Streams in the Desert speaks of “Costly Glory”–“An unlit candle does no shining. Burning must come before shining. We cannot be of great use to others without cost to ourselves. Burning suggests suffering. We shrink from pain.” I’ve sung “This Little Light of Mine” countless times, but have never thought about the cost before. You?
Tozer writes about “The Barrenness of Busyness”–“In a world like ours, we need to master the art and keep at the business of dismissing distractions.” The answer? If we must be busy, let’s make it worshipful.
Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook inspires us to “Gracious Dealing” as we seek to model toward others the graciousness of God we have received–“To be blessed in all that we do is to be blessed indeed. The Lord will send us this partly in prosperity, partly in content of mind, and partly in a sense of His favor, which is the best of all blessings.”
We close considering Philippians 2:14 for our homes today, and I share a poem as well as “Evening Prayer” from The Valley of Vision.
Glad you took the time to join me in our little corner this morning!
