Join me this morning! 😊📖🌻☕
We are reading in John 16 today. Jesus explains the necessity of His departure and shares the exciting news of the Holy Spirit to come.
Luke 7:47 is our scripture writing verse about forgiveness. About whom was this written? “Joined in God” is the title of today’s portion from Streams in the Desert. Joy and sorrow are companions…have you ever thought about that before? “Sorrow with Him must be sweeter than any joy I have ever known.” Interestingly, this deep truth I noticed was touched upon in a movie our kids enjoy called “Inside Out”. The two characters, Joy and Sadness, learn that they need one another’s company.
Tozer in the Morning speaks of “Spiritual Pride”–God spare us from “pious pride and synthetic good humor”! It is indeed “perilous comfort”. Spurgeon writes about “Reward for the Righteous” in Faith’s Checkbook for today. The smile of God is His chief reward.
Our verse from our free prayer journal from The Proverbial Homemaker today is Philippians 1:6–He will complete what He has begun in you, working it all together to make us more like Jesus (Rom 8:28,29). Our portion from The Valley of Vision is “The Cry of a Convicted Sinner”–“save me from myself”…”wound my heart that it may be healed”. Reminds me of this hymn text: “Oh, to be saved from myself, dear Lord, Oh, to be lost in Thee,Oh, that it may be no more I, But Christ that lives in me.”
