This is the Excel sheet I set up for school this year. I began doing this last year, customizing it with her favorite colors and creating a new tab for each week so I have attendance recorded as well. I use Applecore via our SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership for grades and transcripts. Our daughter can also access this spreadsheet online and I can watch her “tick the boxes” throughout the day. This is the initial tab (I always put a color on the current week’s tab), which gives our resource links. I will also add specific assignments in before September.
Here is what we are using for Katie’s sophomore year:
- Bible – Living the Exchange and The Quiet Rest Podcast
- Writing/Spelling – Language Arts 2 from SchoolhouseTeachers.com
- Literature – Great Christian Classics, Vol. 2 plus the other books listed above
- General Biology by Core Academy via SchoolhouseTeachers.com
- Learn Math Fast Curriculum (use code DENTED to get 20% off your order of $24 or more) plus CTC Math
- America in God’s Providence for American History (this book is AMAZING)
- Leadership 101 (elective) via SchoolhouseTeachers.com
- I’m using this resource for elective credit for Katie to learn different Practical Life Skills
For second semester and next year I’m tentatively looking at:
- Government/Civics – (an excellent resource from Generations.org which features books rich in Christian world view, apologetics, and critical thinking)
- Animal Science (elective) – via SchoolhouseTeachers.com (looking forward to a possible career in animal science…she earned .5 credits this summer working with a volunteer program at our local zoo, and will earn more elective credit this year working with our city animal shelter)
- Vocabulary/Spelling – using this list of “100 Words Every High Schooler Should Know”
- Public Speaking – via SchoolhouseTeachers.com
I really like the use of the spreadsheet. I am trying to work out a loop schedule idea for my first and third graders. I think I need to just start writing down things to see what will work for us this year.
I like this option because I have as much room as I want to type in instructions, paste live links, etc. I can make it exactly as I want it. Definitely a plus that our daughter can also access it to track her daily progress, and I have it as a record in the event that we would be asked for verification of attendance.
