Thanks for joining me today! 📖🌻☕
We read in John 19 this morning about the remaining events leading up to the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. It is easy to feel the angst in Pilate’s words as he is perplexed about the Jewish leadership seemingly railroading one of their own, with false accusations, and seeking to enlist Roman authority so that the “guilt” might not rest upon them in violating their own laws. If you feel bewildered about the reasoning you are watching transpire in governments today, bear in mind that “there is nothing new under the sun” as Solomon wrote.
Our scripture writing verse on forgiveness from 2 Cor. 2:5-7 reminds us that mercy must temper our responses when one is truly repentant. Today I remembered to practice our scripture memory with you…Philippians 2:3-7 this week. 👍
Streams in the Desert shows us how we can “Grow in the Gloom” and Tozer warns us that we might not flunk our “Spiritual Testing”. Spurgeon writes about “God Above Human Philosophy” today, which goes along with our scripture reading very well.
Our prayer scripture from the free prayer journal at The Proverbial Homemaker is Lamentations 3:22,23. We look at the hymn text by Frederick Faber–“There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy” as an accompaniment to this scripture on God’s faithfulness and mercy.
