Okay, friends. We are cookin’ with grease now, as a southern friend of mine used to say. Happy September!
This morning we read from Acts 4 and we hear Peter’s courageously bold address to the religious rulers of his community, essentially saying that nothing will silence them from sharing the message of the gospel. May we have the same resolve!
Our scripture writing is on the theme of Serving Others and our passage for today is 1 John 3:16-18. We add the next verse on to our scripture memory passage from Philippians 2 today also.
Streams in the Desert tells us about “Shaped Stones”…taken from the quarry and chiseled into usefulness and beauty. Tozer writes of the “Tension Between the Old Nature and the New”–read through Romans 6-8 to understand this even more fully. In Faith’s Checkbook today, Spurgeon writes of “Abiding in Obedience and Love”, clarifying that holiness and love go hand-in-hand.
Our prayer scripture on the theme of praying for our families is Deuteronomy 6:4-9. May God’s Word permeate every corner of our homes today. We conclude with the hymn, “The Bible Stands” by Haldor Lillenas. Thanks for your patience! I pray it was worth the wait!
