Good morning…and here we go! 📖🌻☕
An announcement today about something I’ve got planned for your family for Christmas. Stay tuned for more details. 🎄
This morning we’ll start out reading in 1 Corinthians 9, in Week 29 on our schedule, reading through the New Testament in a Year. We are working toward mastering Psalm 103, continuing to memorize verses 1-8 this week. Our scripture writing passage is Matthew 6:24, speaking of serving two masters. It cannot be done. All material things should serve us. When that gets turned around, we begin to go down a troublesome path.
Streams in the Desert addresses “Your Crown of Glory”. “The greatest things are always hedged about by the hardest things.” The word “hard” is relative…let’s be gentle with others in their hardness.
Tozer has some insightful thoughts about “Spiritual Appraisers” (to see things through God’s eyes, with His perspective) and Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook discusses “Weapons Doomed to Fail”. As Luther wrote, “And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, we will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us.”
We finish today by looking at God’s attribute of Omniscience (Ps. 139:1-6). Our adversary cannot read minds, but he is observant. There is great comfort that God knows our very thoughts before we think them, and He is in front of us and behind us. Finally, I share a new (to me) hymn text, “God Omniscient, God All Wise”.
Thanks for joining me!
