Happy Monday of Christmas Week! Let’s worship together.
We are reading in week 34 of our schedule taking us through the New Testament in year–Galatians 4 today. We have a beautiful discussion of what it looks like to be “children of promise” and we see God orchestrating this theme through all our resources this morning. We practice Psalm 103:1-13 as our scripture memory portion this week, and our scripture writing passage is Luke 2:46-50…the beginning of Mary’s prayer of praise known as the Magnificat.
Streams in the Desert today compels us to “Dare to Be Alone”…preparing us for when God calls us to “splendid isolation”. Tozer cautions us not to be “Unlovely Righteous People”, warning us about the dangers of “the sins of the spirit”. Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook writes about seeing “Men as Men: God as God”–a very important perspective.
Our prayer scripture is 1 John 2:1, speaking of Jesus as our Advocate or “go-between” and I share a hymn text by Charles Wesley which paints this picture vividly–“Arise, My Soul, Arise!”
We close with a portion of “Gift of Gifts”, a prayer from The Valley of Vision, which we’ll break down and consider in segments through Christmas Eve. And finally, we have the beautiful words of the Wexford Carol to lead us into our worship and prayer time.
Thanks for your patience, and for coming back to join me today.
