Good morning! I hope your Christmas was wonderful and worshipful! Let’s begin this on-ramp to 2022 by worshiping together this morning. 📖🌻☕
We are reading in Week 34 of our “Through the New Testament in a Year” scheduled, which takes us to Ephesians 3. This chapter concludes with a beautiful prayer I’d love to commit to memory so I can pray it for others. Sweet Blessings lists our scripture writing assignment as Galatians 4:4-7, speaking of our sonship…a relationship made possible through the truth of John 1:12–to those who received him, this new relationship as a “child of God” is made possible.
We add verse 14 to our scripture memory portion in Psalm 103, practicing verses 1-14 this week…what a comfort that each member of the trinity was present at creation, and they know “we are dust”. God’s expectations of you are entirely realistic, because He knows He is all-sufficient for our every need.
In Streams in the Desert, F.B. Meyer writes about “Iron Saints”: “The iron crown of suffering precedes the golden crown of glory. And iron is entering into your soul to make it strong and brave.” Tozer challenges us regarding “Loving God Only”–God is not a means to an end…knowing Him should be the ultimate goal in our “Pursuit of God” (a fine book by this same author)–Jer. 9:23,24. For today’s entry in the ledger of “Faith’s Checkbook by Spurgeon, we consider “His Kindness and Covenant”: “Kindness and covenant-dwell on these words as sure and lasting things which eternity itself shall not take from thee.”
We finish by looking at John 1:1 to guide our prayer time, and by reading “Confession and Petition” in The Valley of Vision–if you have come to embrace God’s answer of “no” in your life, knowing it is safest and most blessed to accept His will over your own, this prayer will deeply resonate with you.
