Happy New Year’s Eve! If we stand on tip-toe we can nearly see 2022. A fresh year, with new mercies already set out for every morning and abounding hope (Rom. 15:13). Let’s close the door on this year with resolve to “Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” (Ps. 105:4)! 📖🌻☕
With an eye toward that Romans passage above–that God can fill us with all joy and hope–we begin Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi, which has joy as its theme. The word “joy” or “rejoice” occurs 15 times in this little epistle. Let’s be “sincere” in our walk and testimony–“without wax” (sound, genuine, reliable, truthful and honest”. We work on Psalm 103:1-14 for the final time this week, and we’ll add verse 15 on Monday! Our scripture writing portion for today is Titus 3:3-7…”the kindness and love of God appeared” in the person of the Messiah. Another emphasis is that salvation is only by grace through faith…not at all, or ever, because of our own works/merit. What a relief, to know that our hope is set upon the Rock and not ourselves!
“Hitherto” is the title for our portion from Streams in the Desert –“here I raise mine Ebenezer, hither by thy help I’m come” (from the hymn, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”). He will help us all the journey through! In Morning & Evening with Tozer, we read about how “Guidance is By the Spirit”. Such important instruction regarding being governed by our emotions versus our will. Faith’s Checkbook has “No Stranger in Heaven” as its title…”I put myself into His hand for guidance”.
Our final prayer scripture for this month and this year is found in Revelation 3:21 — The Overcomer makes it possible for us to overcome as well! We read “Year’s End” from The Valley of Vision to wrap things up this morning….He has lead us through “a twisting wilderness” and He is the blest Pilot of our future. No better company to have, Amen?
Happy New Year!
