Thanks for joining me this morning! 📖🌻☕
We are reading in Philippians 3 this morning, being reminded of how God is purposeful in using all things from our past for His glory. We should press forward, and not allow what is behind us to become a hindrance. We continue memorizing Psalm 103:1-15, and today’s scripture writing passage is Psalm 23:5-6. We “flourish” as sheep only because of our Great Shepherd.
Streams in the Desert tells us about “Believing Prayer”…so many good reminders in our resources recently on the idea of faith. We are challenged to examine our motives in our prayers…is it for personal convenience or gain or preference? “There is nothing that so fully clinches faith as to be so sure of the answer that you can thank God for it.” Interesting to think about “praying ourselves out of faith”…what are your thoughts on that?
Tozer beckons us to “Let Us Draw Near Today” even as Abraham, David, and Paul did. We have their examples to follow, and we have the selfsame God and Father they did. “In Calm Repose” is the topic for Faith’s Checkbook today, following the theme of lying down in green pastures as God’s sheep. “It is one thing to lie down, and quite another to lie down safely”…It is safer for a believer to lie down in peace than to sit up and worry. “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,” We never rest till the Comforter makes us lie down.” I needed that word today. You too?
We look at Psalm 16:5-6 — “the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places” — from our list at His Mercy Is New. He is our everlasting portion. From Valley of Vision we read the except entitled “Humiliation”. Let us not have a “wound of secret godlessness”…the words in these prayers are so often very convicting, and very direct. “Let me never forget that the heinousness of sin lies not so much in the nature of the sin committed, as in the greatness of the Person sinned against.”
Much to pray over today. I love that all of the things we look at together are from the heart and yet solidly edifying…not emotional fluff. The best kind of content to help us grow and change.
