Wednesday, friends! Let’s huddle up in the Quiet Time Corner before we venture out into this day. 📖🌻☕
We are continuing in 1 Timothy today by reading chapter 3–the qualifications for bishops (pastors), which doesn’t include having sinlessly perfect children. 🙂 Our scripture writing portion for this Wednesday is Philippians 4:12-13, and we are working on adding verse 18 to our memory passage, Psalm 103:1-18.
In Streams in the Desert, we read about “Waiting and Over-Waiting”–“God is waiting to pour richest blessings upon you. Press forward with bold confidence and take what is yours. “I have begun to give, begin to possess.” Tozer interestingly addresses this same idea of faith having feet in “The Object of True Faith”–“I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them” (Isaiah 42:16). God has not failed me in this world; I can trust Him for the world to come.”
Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook writes about how “God Routs Fear”–We need not fear the fiend himself, nor any of those secret enemies whose words are full of deceit and whose plans are deep and unfathomable.” Our scripture prayer verse is Psalm 119:114-God is our hiding place, our shield, and our hope is found in His word.
We close with “Sins” from The Valley of Vision–so healthful to be made to think about how the effect of sin is so pervasive in our lives. I fear we live such busy lives that little thought is given to how subtle sin can be in seeping into our lives, stealthily creeping, nudging its way into our thoughts. Every colossal failure begins as a notion. Convicting thoughts for today. Our hope is found in Jesus!
