Okay, friends! Let’s finish out this week leaning hard on God’s promises. 📖🌻☕
Today we finish the book of 2 Timothy by reading chapter 4 and Paul’s warnings for these end times. Monday we’ll begin the book of Titus. Our scripture writing passage for today is 1 Samuel 26:23, showing us David’s faithful love for his God, and how that affected his choices. We practice Psalm 103:1-19 for the final time…we’ll add verse 20 at the beginning of our new week.
In Streams in the Desert, we learn about “God’s Wind” and how we must follow the example of the birds who fly into the tempest to soar above what threatens them. Tozer warns against “The Wrong Kind of Teachers”–“The Spirit-anointed Bible teacher will so teach the Word as to keep it transparent, so as to allow it to be what it always should be, a kind of burning bush which God indwells and out of which He shines in awesome splendor. The beholder sees the bush, it is true, but the object of his interest is the Presence, not the bush.”
In Faith’s Checkbook for today, Spurgeon encourages us with the promise that “He Will Return”–“He left us, and yet we are not left orphans. He is our comfort, and He is gone; but we are not comfortless. Our comfort is that He will come to us, and this is consolation enough to sustain us through His prolonged absence.”
We conclude today’s podcast with our prayer scripture, Psalm 55:22, and an accompanying hymn text, “Casting Care on God”–His changeless promise standeth sure; Go, cast thy care on Him.”
